Reflections for November 11

Go to God to get strength. We can bring to the world so many things with God. We can be life giving. We bring hope and find that life has purpose. We can teach the rest of the world that God is real. Geoff’s prayer at the end of his sermon included the words, “God, you are so good to us. We trust you. We treasure this relationship with you.” Wow! Yes, our church family definitely trusts God and realizes how much God means to us. Each week we learn something new and find out how to continue to be part of this amazing life with God. The Prayer for Illumination said, “Gracious God, give us humble and teachable hearts, so that we may receive what you have revealed, and do what you have instructed.” We continue to learn how we can make a difference and value the life we have with God. Also, we value how much Jesus went through to show us how to be human in this world. Jesus destroyed death and helped us understand the gift of God through him. When we go to God to get strength and forgiveness, it can have to do with us making mistakes. Mistakes are natural and an inevitable part of being human. There can be some positive results as we continue to learn from what went wrong and why. It can increase our self-awareness, and it can make us more understanding and empathetic toward others. We can learn to forgive ourselves and others for mistakes and move forward with healthy relationships. God, let us continue learning how to value our lives with your teachings.
