Reflections for January 13

When I looked up some information about Scrooge, I began to see why Geoff used this character as an example for his sermon last week. Scrooge was changed and transformed to a different person. He had to confront his past failings, and he needed to become a new person. He became more generous. Jesus said we must be born again, and we are all about change. God shows us how to change and helps us take those steps. It is never too late to change, embrace compassion, and spread good cheer. It is not easy to change or learn how to do things in a new way. It feels safer and easier to do things the way we have always done it. Yet, the three kings went to a different place after seeing the star and followed it to see the baby Jesus. Our lives are transformed, and we have a friend in God. We can have the light of the world and share it with others. This is who we can be. The Prayer on Sunday asked God to give us strength to follow him wherever he may lead us. What a way to start the New Year with positivity and knowing God is with us through change!
